Path of Exile Stress-Test - chiQ
A somewhat verbose press release came from the Grinding Gear Games crew. They're conducting a stress-test for Path of Exile this weekend.
The Path of Exile Beta servers will open for public access at 5pm PDT on Friday, May 11. Public access will end at 11:59pm PDT Sunday night, May 13.
You can find details here. Also, for those who want to stick around in the beta:
Although currently in closed beta, Path of Exile is opening its doors to everyone for two days with a public test this coming weekend. Supporters can also pre-purchase credit for the game’s ‘ethical microtransactions’ and receive a permanent beta key.
They have also announced a new character class, called Shadow.
His signature tactic is to lay hidden traps and to lure his opponents in. When they step too close, the trap springs and his foes find themselves caught in place, missing a leg or blown to pieces in a fiery explosion. Alternatively, he can place remote mines which are manually detonated, ideally in the middle of clusters of enemies.
More here.

Learning Languages - chiQ
I'm in the process of registering a channel on EnterTheGame for NZG users who wish to learn and confer over Germanic languages together. The channel should be #nzggermanic, if you care to come and partake. If that changes I will post an update.
Update 2010.07.15: The channel is now registered.

GDAA Award for Shatter - chiQ
I'm a little behind on this one, but the Game Developers' Association of Australia has given Shatter an award for being the best downloadable title of 2009. This was announced last month, but yeah, I missed it. Oops! Congratulations to the crew at Sidhe.

IGN Says Shatter is Best - chiQ
The best Playstation Store game of 2009 is Shatter, made right here in New Zealand by Sidhe, our dark duck of the Antipodes. I always knew IGN were a smart outfit, but this just proves it. Big ups to Phantom, the producer, and Mario, the big boss dude. We lub j00!

New release Nintendo titles incl WII FIT PLUS! Hot info! - Ab
Hear ye, hear ye. Somewhere in Australia there is a dumb shit named Zahn Buchanan purporting to be "NZ & AIE Movies AU Account Manager" for "ALL INTERACTIVE ENTERTAINMENT" and he has nothing better to do than spam some direct-marketing list he's bought with useless info about upcoming Nintendo titles like Wii Fit Plus. Unfortunately I am on that list and such is the professional integrity of Zahn Buchanan and his employer ALL INTERACTIVE ENTERTAINMENT that they persist in emailing me this shit even though I have requested on multiple occasions that they desist.
Unfortunately this time they seem to have sent out a bunch of embargoed info with confidential pricing and release dates. So, in the hope that this will bite them in the arse and perhaps, just perhaps, result in them re-examining their UTTER FAILURE AS A ONLINE MARKETING ORGANISATION, I give you some links.

Yes, Word documents. Like I said, utter failure. It's like these gimps are going out of their way to piss off their channel partners and kill retail sales. Oh yeah and I have reported ALL INTERACTIVE ENTERTAINMENT and their breach of both the Australian Direct Marketing Association's Code of Conduct and the Australian Communications and Media Authority's Australian eMarketing Code of Practice to those organisations.
By the way, I don't advise anyone to buy any of the games being distributed by ALL INTERACTIVE ENTERTAINMENT, as in my opinion they look like crap. And those RRPs are a joke.

Rugby League 3 - chiQ
Sidhe is a duck. Not a pussy duck that drifts around occasionally turning upside down to look like a Hershey's Kiss, but a kick-arse, souped-up duck with racing stripes that looks all serene on top, but is all high-octane performance under the waterline. They're also a dark horse. See how I mix metaphors for you...
The point is they've launched the Rugby League 3 website today. Did you see that coming? What's more, the title is to be for Wii. Did you see that coming?
Yeah, just like a duck.

Face Time - chiQ
Get a load of ZeroBC, going all multi-platform on our arses:
*I'm a Facebook link so click me*
You can probably add him as a friend and send him your Twitter page too. So many ways to communicate, so little space on the bookmarks toolbar!
By the way, this is all about ZQL LAN again, in case you thinking I'm barking.

ZQL - chiQ
ZeroBC's been in touch again, directing us to this thread. He's putting on another LAN, August 7 - 9. If you're able to get to or are already situated in Rotovegas then check it out.

Rotovegas or Bust - chiQ
Rotovegas seems to be a good place to hold a LAN. I went to both Quakestocks and they rocked. ZeroBC has let us know that there's a LAN on there this coming weekend. QW for the win!
Let him know if you're interested.

Sidhe's New PSN title: Shatter - chiQ
Sidhe's new PSN title was announced in the wee small hours (NZT). I've found Develop Magazine's splurg about it, and it sounds like a fun brick Breaker game. The title is Shatter, and you can read more about it here, and view video (HD) here.

The Age of Gaming - chiQ
I'm running a poll, which will close at the end of February, to find out how old gamers are. It's pretty straight forward, and will take a matter of seconds to participate, so if you could do so that would be greatly appreciated. There aren't any prizes for taking part, but it's all in the aid of, er...science? Gaming science! Yeah, that's it.
